Happy Sunday! We had a wonderful time the past two days, we went hiking on saturday, and today we spent the day at the local lake. The children had a chance to see a swan family and swim,  play frisbee, try out a pirate ship playground and we had a picnic. Today I am sharing some inspiring and helpful articles from around the web that I read in the last week: From Gina, The Twin Coach 9 Essential Gifts For New Parents she shares: By far, the greatest gifts I've gotten over the years turned out not to be material things, but rather wisdom gained and lessons learned.  The post also has links to other really wonderful posts from Teacher Tom, Dr. Laura Markham, Lisa Sunbury and more. From Julia over at…

Hello Sunday! We took a ride on an old steam train today! We had a picnic, played with balls, bubbles, made new friends and even had a chance to climb up the engine and look at the coal tender...An amazing adventure!     Articles & posts that I'm sharing this week: The Mule has this great read sharing that babies really need responsiveness from their parents. I appreciated and agree with the inclusiveness of the suggestions "Any parent, regardless of whether they choose bottle and buggy, or boob and sling, can be a Responsive Parent. "  read more here. It's Sunday again!  We had a wonderful family weekend with water play, swimming, dancing, swinging in beach-towels and eating popsicles. Tomorrow is Spank Out Day USA - I'll be posting something on some untruths about spanking and offering a list of alternatives as well as links to other sites that are participating in Spank Out Day. Also coming up this week an opportunity (giveaway!) to connect with a life coach and learn more about the importance of taking time for yourself. Plus a new post with ideas for coping with toddler clingy-ness. And now onto Sunday Sharing: Three great reads on positive parenting & motherhood. Alfie Kohn shares fantastic insights in a recent article: In short, the best parents acknowledge the needs of their children (as distinct from their own),…

Sharing Sundays #2

Happy Sunday! In the second round of Sharing Sunday - here are a few articles and posts I came across in the past week that I really enjoyed: Love From Parenting from scratch: Children need encouragement, a lot of it, not to be confused with praise...Here is a great list of encouragement phrases to use with children daily. In the Daily Herald, Ken Potts shares why "There is never a good reason to hit a child." Although I don't agree with everything he says, I feel he can reach a really broad audience with his take on this.  I do agree with "All of us as responsible parents need to put this knowledge to use." Laughter This account from Critters & Crayons made me laugh so much, a great illustration that we…
